# kitto

salix@host:~/projects/kitto

kitto was my account-free Instagram reader for Android, in the same spirit as invio and threado: a native app around the public and private frontend ecosystem instead of the official app and its API.

It didn’t make it. kitto depended on Kittygram and other Instagram private frontends, and they proved too unreliable for the app I wanted to build — instances go down, routes return errors, and media fetching breaks without warning. When the thing your app is built on disappears every few weeks, the core experience is impossible to guarantee.

kitto is deprecated and no longer maintained. There are no plans to continue development. The code stays up on the forge for reference — the app architecture and the scraping-hardening tricks may be useful to someone, and it’s an honest look at what happens when your project stands on someone else’s unreliable infrastructure.
